Anna D. Zych

Neuroscientist and wearables specialist, Health Science Lead at Momentum

Neuroscientist and wearables specialist. She took her master's degree at the University of Glasgow, researched adult neurogenesis at Princeton University and earned her doctorate at the Max Planck Institute in Munich, where she worked on the neurobiology of emotion: the role of neurotransmitters and interoception, the brain's reading of signals from inside the body.

What those measurements actually mean remains an open scientific question. That is the subject of her newsletter, The Science Behind Wearables, where every claim is grounded in peer reviewed research; its readers include company founders, product leads and clinicians. As Health Science Lead at Momentum she is responsible for the scientific methodology behind Open Wearables, an open source platform for integrating wearable data, run on a self hosted model.

At ELEVATE, she will explain how wearables work, what they can actually measure and how to use them wisely.
